Introduction
Living Small, Yet Living It All! This is what the Tiny House Movement stands for - simple yet comfortable living. The role of homes today has shifted from just being a place of habitation to becoming a statement of the personal and emotional personalities of the users. These adobes are redefined with every passing day.
The latest need calls for humble, minimal and versatile homes that meet the needs of the users in urban contexts. The versatility of today’s homes extends with them doubling up as office spaces, play areas, work-out zones, spaces for interaction and recreation, as also being an abode for our furry friends, etc.
Volume Zero Competition invited architects, designers and enthusiasts to join in the Tiny House Movement. Participants were expected to design homes that re-imagined sustainability through the innovation of maximum usable space in a minimum footprint.
These tiny homes had to be innovative and foster a strong connection between the interiors and the exteriors. The mobility of the home had to be taken into consideration. The footprint of the house could be at most 300 sq. ft.
Among the assortment of remarkable designs submitted by the participants, the best ones justified the designs in complex contexts and managed to create dynamic architecture. These responsive designs were thoughtfully picked up by the esteemed jury for their innovative solutions and sustainable design solutions.
