The world is changing constantly, and along with it, our homes are getting redefined as they see us spend more time within them. A Home is no longer just a place you live in but is a place that lives with you. Recognising this paradigm shift and considering the land availability and economic feasibility, Volume Zero competitions presented the opportunity to redefine adobes as tiny resourceful homes supporting a simple yet versatile living.
Participants were to design tiny homes comprising all the fundamental spaces like living areas, sleeping areas, cooking, washing, working areas, etc. and any other spaces as per the design. They were free to choose a justifiable site in an urban or rural context.
The entries for the Tiny House Architecture competition were critically judged on the level of innovation and effective functionality. Amongst the plethora of inventive design proposals, the entries that stood out the most were the ones that focused on adaptability and multi-functionality. Context-specific designs on extreme sites were also intriguing and made it to the top 50 list.
