Introduction
Public spaces host a large number of people engaging in several different activities. From, casual strolling, and exercising, to sitting down for socialising and building inter-personal connections. In such places, finding a comfortable seat that suits an individual as per his/her requirements becomes a task.
Over the last few years, public spaces offering avenues to sit, relax and strike up a conversation with fellow people have drastically reduced, sparking an urgent need for alternative methods of creating personal seating arrangements.
Volume Zero Competitions invited designers, architects, engineers, artists and everyone to create that one seat that can be carried and used anywhere and everywhere. The designed product had to be inventive and easy to use for all age groups. The seat had to be adaptable to different ergonomic needs experienced by the targeted user in his/her daily routine.
Participants created ingenious designs that were easy to carry, comfortably suited for diverse needs and had wide applicability. The top entries were picked out based on their potential to be accepted and used by users.
Volume Zero thanks all the participating members and teams for their entries in the Pocket Seat 2018 Architecture Competition!
